29th June 2002 - Rose Queen Parade - Whaley Bridge

In June we again took part in the parade for the Whaley Bridge Rose Queen Festival. This year we dressed the float in the theme of Cowboys and Indians. We had a fort, tepee and cactus amongst other things on the float.

22nd April 2002 - St. George's Day Parade

Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Leaders and supporters gathered in Chapel-en-le-Frith yesterday for the annual District St. George's Day Parade. The Parade walked from the Scout HQ in Chapel-en-le-Frith to the Parish Church for a service before returning the HQ. Dove Holes band provided the music en route.

22nd April 2002 - News From The County Scout Section Meeting

Matlock District will be hosting theit third Brass Band Concert featuring the Yorkshire Building Society Brass Band. The concert is being held in aid of the Matlock District Scout Council Appeal and will take place on Saturday 22nd June 2002 at High fiel dSchool, Lumsdale Road, Matlock commencing 7.00 p.m. Tickets priced at £ 8.00 each are available from Geoff Stevens Outfitters Matlock, the Tourist Offices in Matlock and Chesterfield, Scout Groups in Matlock and by phoning 01246 568744.

The Red Cross are making fundraising packs available to Groups. The 'Red Cross World Cup Fun Day Pack' gives activity and fundraising ideas with yourself and the Red Cross splitting any money you make 50/50. The packs can be got by contacting Lyn Carnelly on 01629 582171.

The booking forms are now available for the National Scoutcar Races 2002, being held on Saturday 6th July 2002 at Darley Moor, Ashbourne. Please contact the District Scout Leader if you would like to enter a team.

15th April 2002 - Derbyshire County Scout Section 6-a-Side Football Report

The 1st Taxal Scout Troop and the District Explorer Scout Unit (I.C.B.I.N.V.) took part in the County 6-a-side Football Competition at Gorsey Brigg Junior School, Dronfield on the 13th April. The 10 to 13 year old team from the Troop narrowly missed a place in the semi-finals, coming third in their Group. The Unit team did even better, finishing as Runner-Up in the 14 to 17 year old competition, losing in the final to Winters E.S.U. from the 3rd Holmsfield, a team that they had already beaten in the group matches. 9th April 2002 - High Peak District Annual General Meeting

The District A.G.M. will take place on the 14th June 2002 at Hayfield Scout HQ, starting at 8.00 p.m. All are welcome.

9th April 2002 - Kinder Scout Available

Kinder Scout (Derbyshire Scout County's quarterly newsletter) was distributed to all Groups at the District Executive Committee meeting on the 8th April. Leaders can get their own copy from their Group Scout Leader.

9th April 2002 - District To Purchase New Program Packs For All Sections

The District Executive has agreed to purchase one of the new program packs for each section in the District. This will save the Groups over £ 1000 in total and should be available sometime after 1st June 2002.

9th April 2002 - News From The District Executive Committee

The National Scoutcar Races will take place at Darley Moor race track (near Ashbourne) over the weekend of the 6th and 7th July 2002.

The District Explorer Scout Commissioner has asked that all Scout Leaders in the District provide her with a list of all Scouts over the age of 13. This is to facilitate the movement of members from Scouts to the new Explorer Scout Section.

A new Appointments Sub Committee is being put in place. All future Appointments will be made after a meeting with the Appointments Sub Committee.

District Executive Committee meetings are planned for the 8th July, 7th October and the 9th December at 8.00 p.m. at Chinley Conservative Club. A short Executive meeting will take place before the A.G.M. on 14th June ay 7.30 p.m. at Hayfield Scout H.Q.

9th April 2002 - St. George's Day Parade

The 2002 High Peak District St. George's Day Parade will take place in Chapel-en-le-Frith on Sunday 21st April. It will be led by Dove Holes band, the service taking place in Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Church. All Group Scout Leaders (and Scouters in Charge) have been sent details.

The A.G.M. of the 1st Taxal Scout Group will take place on the 7th May 2000, starting at 8.00 p.m. All are welcome.
